First Draft of Ancillary Texts

I created something simple for the first ideas of my Digipak CD Cover because I didn't want to make it too complex and 'overcrowded' yet still stand out.

I firstly 'touched up' my model, by making her skin look a little more flawless. I did this by the airbrush tool on Photoshop. I used the 'Lasso' tool to select the areas of skin I wanted to touch up and then duplicated the layer. This also reduces the amount of pixels which therefore makes it easier to work with.

I then repeated to duplicate another layer (duplicating the layer is done by pressing Ctrl+J), and then named both layers 1 and 2. I then used a surface blur filter. This helps when smoothing out the skin but still reserves the edges. I then set the radius and threshold, so it was blurry but the image was still recognizable. I then lowered the threshold till the edges on the picture became visibly sharp. This is the basis of the skin. On 'layer 2' I focused on any blemishes or visible pores on the skin. I clicked on the eye which is beside the name of the layer, and changed the layer blending mode to 'Linear Light'.

To relate to my 'home video'look which is in my video, I changed
the colouring of my photo to a 'vintage' sepia style discoloured look. Basically for this I just experimented with the 'temperature' and 'saturation' till I found a colour I thought was right for the photograph.

I was also attempting to make a 'film tape' frame around my photograph, but found it quite complex to do so. After searching on the net,I found pre-made 'film/photograph' frames that you could import onto photos so I decided to download one and added an extra layer onto my photograph, and added the selected frame I chose. This makes my cover look in sync to my video as it captures the image of a vintage 'home made video' recording.

For the text, suprisingly what inspired me was the famous beverage 'Coca Cola' 's font for their logo.

I think it looks quite 'fancy' and maybe does look like that kind of font is more 'girly' likely that what a male would choose for a font. For this I chose Vivaldi in Italic. As I wanted the first letter to be slightly bigger I eventually chose it to be in size 600, and the rest of the letters are in 200.
As I had a lot of greenery and a black frame I wanted a colour for the text that would stand out. As the colouring of the photo is slightly discoloured I decided I'd go for a cream/ivory shade. I chose the 'Vivid Light' shade for both the artist name and the album name.

I then chose a drop shadow/blend mode to add to the artist name. I used this to a -175 degree angle so it had quite a blended visible shadow. I then chose a slight outer glow which was very similar to my chosen colour to give it a 'bright' look. For the album name as previously said I chose the same colour and font to match. I put this in the bottom right corner but a little more raised up.
I put an Outer Glow on this also, and also put the Opacity to 75 percent and the font in size 150/italic.

Name for my Artist

I struggled to come up with a new name for my artist as I would like to think 'Lana Del Rey' is already something relatively unique in the first place. I actually got the inspiration from one of her songs from her updated EP 'Lana Del Rey: The Paradise Edition'.

I am going to replace Lana's name with 'Roses Belair' for my project. It is also in relevance to my music video as my actress's character is filmed in areas surrounded by flowers and also wears flowers in her hair in my music video. As my actress's character seems to have relevance to wanting the 'millionaire lifestyle' it also helps as I think Bel Air in America also portrays an area of the rich and wealthy.
